Las Vegas reaches first 110-degree day of the year

Summer has officially turned up the heat in Las Vegas, with the city recording its first 110°F (43.3°C) day of the year on Thursday. The temperature reached the milestone at 1:33 p.m., marking the beginning of an intense stretch of hot weather expected to last through the weekend.

Although temperatures have been climbing for weeks, Thursday was the first time this year the city reached 110°F. According to the National Weather Service, Las Vegas typically experiences its first 110-degree day around June 30, making this year's arrival slightly later than average. The previous time the city reached that temperature was on August 21, 2025.

The scorching conditions are expected to continue on Friday and Saturday, with highs once again reaching 110°F under mostly sunny skies. In addition to the extreme heat, wind gusts of up to 30 mph are forecast for Thursday.

There is some relief on the horizon, however. Moisture associated with the seasonal monsoon pattern is expected to move into the region late in the weekend. Increasing cloud cover on Sunday could bring isolated showers, while Monday currently offers the highest chance of measurable rainfall at around 40%. Cloudy conditions may continue through Tuesday before skies begin to clear on Wednesday.

As cloud cover increases, daytime temperatures are expected to ease slightly. Forecast highs include 108°F on Sunday, 104°F on Monday, and 106°F on Tuesday. Sunshine is expected to return by midweek, pushing temperatures back up to around 109°F on Wednesday.
